These multi-layered screen prints sprung from the festival’s kaleidoscope theme as a visual jumping off point, using my grandparents' old Spirograph for the symmetrical and repeating patterns.
I used a monoprint screen printing process that resulted in a large suite of one-of-a-kind prints, prompting the viewer to take a closer look. Each print is unique in its colors, but uniform in overall design and form, much like the ever-changing view through a kaleidoscope.
These were made with pigment additives and a mix of fluorescent, process, semi-transparent, and opaque inks - to create the unique blended split-fountain and painterly effects, printed on 12.5’’x19’’ heavy stock grout gray paper.
